In 2015, WRI supported the feasibility assessment activities needed to support restoration. This assessment is seen from the social, cultural, political, economic and ecological aspects.

Some of the main focuses in the assessment are:

  • Understand the fishponds potential that have been left for rehabilitation to become mangrove forests
  • Understanding the aquaculture management potential that is not targeted for rehabilitation into mangrove forests.

It was continued in 2017 when the Blue Forests team conducted an assessment of mangrove restoration opportunities in Gorontalo, the ROAM (Restoration Opportunity Assessment Method) book was a guidebook during activities.
