Feasibility studies included assessments of social, cultural, political, economic and ecological aspects needed to support large-scale restoration and subsequent management for conservation or sustainable utilization. It focused on the status of aquaculture pond is necessary in order to:

  1. understand the potential for disused or abandoned aquaculture ponds to be rehabilitated back into mangrove forests and;
  2. to understand the potential for improved management of remaining aquaculture areas, not targeted for mangrove rehabilitation. To specifically enhance ecosystem values, an emphasis on the feasibility of ecological mangrove rehabilitation as a solution is being investigated in this assessment.
